Hawaii Recap
Saturday, Apr 5, 2008 |
| Well it's back to the mainland! Hawaii was wonderful(for the most part). It was lots of performing in Wakiki and Honolulu. We performed the Andy Butami TV Show, Aloha Joe's Radio Show, The Legacy Award Show @ The Royal Hawaiian Hotel....amazing!, The Hawaiian Music Awards Show and a couple of resort pool gigs and even a Planet Hollywood gig. Oh yeah, don't let me forget about the Board Riders Club show at Country Music Night....yes there is a counrty music bar in Hawaii! Afer our gigs were done, I hung out and played pan on the streets of Wakiki with this really cool musician Jimmy(and friends). We played pan, drums and just jammed for the crowds of mostly very friendly Asian tourist.
I sort-of learned how to surf in Wakiki by Diamond Head(it was harder than I thought! but freaking FUN!)
I rented a BMW R1150R Motorbike and toured the island of Oahu which was amazing! Greg(the guitar and yuke player)and I escaped Wakiki for Maui for 2 1/2 days where we played a gig with an amazing guitar player "Mondo" at the Sharaton Resort and then rode all over the majestic island where we ended up in Hana where we hiked in the rain forrest and swam in caves and secluded water falls way off the tourist beaten path. The highlight of the trip for me. So hopefully I will get back there, maybe as soon as this year. I'll keep you posted. Yes, Hawaii has seduced me as I knew it would!
I look foward to seeing everyone soon as my bookings are coming in fast and furious. I look foward to another great music filled year!
Have a great spring and summer!

2007 Recap
Sunday, Jan 27, 2008 |
| I just want to say that 2007 was another amazing year! I had the opportunity to perform more than I have in 5 years, travel to amazing places I had never been before and meet and make lots of new friends. I want to thank all of you who had me perform for your festivals, private parties, weddings, schools, corperate events, resorts, restaurants and bars! I had the opportunity to perform with Orlando's number one island-party band, "The Landsharks" in Cabo San Lucas, Cancun, St. Kitts, DC, and even the Midwest. I recorded and released what I think is my best CD to date, the all original "Pan Can Jam!" Got to record on another Evan Olson disc on The LoveCat Music Label. I even laid down some steel drums for The Hawaiian Trop-Rock group "The Tsunami Wave Riders" on a tune that is up for Best Single for the 2008 Hawaiian Grammy Awards. (Will keep you posted) On top of that I managed another 25,000 miles in my car for my solo gigs and 15000 miles on my motorbike on my time off in between shows which I got to take up to Nova Scotia, French Quebec, New Brunswick, Toronto and New England. Spent a couple of weeks in Trinidad, WI visiting family and friends. Oh yeah...I also worked part-time at Carolina BMW selling motorbikes! My first real(kind of)job since 1993! So here's to 2007 and look foward for another great year in 2008. Hope to see all of you soon!
